Carine is bad ass and has basically achieved deity status. She is Tom Ford and Karl Lagerfeld's muse, her daughter's godfather is Mario Testino. I could swoon forever about fashion's first family, but I won't. Am dying to get my hands on this book.

Unforgettable....

Eight years ago I was booked for a very special wedding makeup job. We hadn't done a makeup trial so my first time meeting the client was her big day. I had learned she and her groom were 9/11 widows. They lost their greatest loves on that fateful day and were hopeless about rebuilding their lives, let alone falling in love again. Both had children from previous marriages and were anxious about how their children would adjust to their new life.

They broke with tradition when the groom snuck into the suite to give his bride kisses as they flirted and whispered like giddy teenagers. After the groom left, the bride told me she had to a secret to share with me (her daughters 15 feet away). I was thinking, this could be really really bad and I've only known you for an hour, but sure tell me whatever you want. She said, only our financial advisor know, but we got married last week we are only doing the ceremony for our kids, family and friends. People can't find out of they will freak! As a makeup artist, one of the countless reasons I love my job is that I'm privy to "behind the scenes" information; but this was different. I was very touched to be let in on the secret. As I recall this story, especially today, I am hopeful. I love my job.

The September Issue

R.J. Cutler's documentary gave the world a glimpse inside the schizophrenic fashion industry and focused on the importance of Vogue's September Issue.

My two favorite features this Fall are about Emmanuelle Alt and Kate Moss who both epitiomize cool and chic. Emmanuelle, is Carine Roitfeld's successor at Paris Vogue. She is gorgeous and needs very little makeup! I look at her and think, how are Parisian women so chic? She could turn any woman into a Francophile.

Kate Moss, whom I'm slightly obsessed with, is known for her signature effortless downtown cool fashion sense. How does one party tirelessly at the Glastonbury Festival, traipse around in mud for days without a shower and still look amazing?

Naturally, her wedding incorporated elements of her iconic style: bohemia, rock'n' roll and fabulousness. How apropos that she created Second Looks Tents for guests? Mrs. Jamie Hince, herself, had 3-4 outfit changes.
